The VACEP Board of Directors established 2006 legislative priorities as follows:

  1. Assignment of Benefits to non-par physicians providing EMTALA services must be honored by insurers.
  2. Medicaid funding increases for healthcare (Commonwealth Care Coalition)
  3. Tort reform initiatives
  4. White hat (support primary seat belts, oppose repeal of motor cycle helmet law, etc)
  5. Bills affecting emergency medicince stakeholders that would improve Virginia’s report card grade.

ACTIVE SUPPORT Lobbyist assigned with Passage as a primary objective. VACEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
SUPPORT Lobbyist keeps close tabs/using influence appropriately without diluting ACTIVE issues. VACEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
In Favor Lobbyist promotes passage if asked by legislators; considered beneficial to emergency physicians, practices, and/or patients. Members personal involvement recommended if issue is of particular interest to them.
