VACEP’s legislative agenda is successful when members participate in the process. To be effective, you must communicate with your legislators before they are required to vote on any matter. If you do not know who your legislators are, go to http://conview.state.va.us/whosmy.nsf/main?openform

Below is a listing of bills we have identified as important to emergency medicine.

A click on the bill number takes you to the Virginia Legislative Information systems website where you will find detailed information about the bill and where it is in the legislative process.

If your legislator serves on a committee that is considering a particular piece of legislation, it will be important for you to contact them before the committee vote is expected. Look and see to which committee your legislators are assigned. VaCEP will send email alerts to emergency physicians for whom we have an email address, when your legislator is voting in committee on bills we are actively pursuing.

Bills that pass committee go on to the full House or Senate for final vote (unless they are detoured through another committee), and all emergency physicians will be emailed to contact their legislators for those final Floor votes.
