The Board of Directors conducted a comprehensive Membership Survey in late 2005. Those results were analyzed and subsequently, at a Strategic Planning Retreat in May 2006, the Board agreed to pursue the following vision:
A Community of Empowered Emergency Physicians
The Board agreed that while it is concerned about quality emergency care, the organization primarily serves emergency physicians. By serving the professional needs of emergency physicians, VACEP will also positively serve the needs of emergency patients.
The Board identified outcomes to advance VACEP toward its ultimate goal and adopted the following organizational objectives:
- Capture 75% of eligible active members by 2010.
- Increase total revenue by 5% per year without raising dues or member fees and decrease attrition by 20% per year, excluding candidate members.
- Utilize a minimum number of committees to support the long-term objectives of the organization.
The Board revised its committee structure in November 2006, and subsequently reallocated or developed new objectives to be pursued.
The current strategic objectives can be viewed here, along with committee and task force appointments. (Updated May 2008, note some appointments are pending.)
