Rapp Honored as 2003 Career Achievement Award Recipient

Michael T. Rapp, MD, FACEP of McLean was honored with the 2003 Career Achievement Award by VaCEP at its annual meeting held February 28th, 2003, at the Homestead Resort, Hot Springs, VA.

This award is given annually for outstanding contributions to the College and to the specialty of emergency medicine over a prolonged duration.  The attributes exemplified include inspiration, innovation, dedication, administration and outstanding clinical care.

Dr. Rapp joined the American College of Emergency Physicians in 1972, qualifying him as a Charter Member.  He contributed much time and energy to the Chapter: serving on the Board of Directors from 1978-1986; Vice President from 1983-1984; President for two terms of 1985-1986; as well as various other positions such as Councillor, Alternate Councillor, Chairperson of Health Finance Committee, Chairperson Constitution and Bylaws Committee and Budget Committee Member.  He also received a National ACEP appointment to the Constitution and Bylaws Committee for two terms of ’81-’82 and '82-'83.

Since his involvement in the Virginia ACEP, he has been involved in many issues facing emergency medicine, and all through this, has always been in active clinical practice.  In his leadership positions, he did what he could to make things better in the efforts of all physicians serving the patients that depend on them.
