Plunkett Honored as 2000 Career Achievement Award Recipient

Harry G. Plunkett, MD, FACEP received the 2000 Stanley E. Heatwole Career Achievement Award at the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians’ (VACEP) annual meeting February 8 at The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA.

This award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the College and the specialty of Emergency Medicine.  During his career, Dr. Plunkett has worked tirelessly and unselfishly on behalf of Emergency Medicine through his establishment of the first Emergency Medicine residency program in the Commonwealth of Virginia, his intimate involvement in Emergency Medical Services, his leadership in the largest emergency medicine practice group in Virginia and his consistent provision of outstanding patient care.

Dr. Plunkett was a full time Emergency Physician in the Tidewater area from 1967 until his retirement in 1997. Dr. and Mrs. Plunkett reside in Virginia Beach. (2/00)
