McCoig Honored as 1999 Career Achievement Award Recipient

Forrest D. McCoig, MD received the 1999 "Stanley E. Heatwole Career Achievement Award", at the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians’ (VACEP) annual meeting February 9 at The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA.

This award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the College and the specialty of Emergency Medicine. Dr. McCoig served as VACEP’s founding President from 1971 to 1974. During his career, he worked tirelessly with the Board of Directors and on many committees, representing Emergency Medicine with distinction on the Governor’s EMS Advisory Board to advance the interests of the College and of his fellow Emergency Physicians, as well as the patients and communities we serve.

Dr. McCoig was a full time Emergency Physician at Hampton General Hospital from 1964 until his retirement in 1992. Dr. and Mrs. McCoig reside in Newport News. (2/99)
