2006 Election Results

At the Annual Meeting of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians (VaCEP), held March 1, 2006, at the Omni Hotel, Richmond, Virginia, the following individuals were elected to serve a three year term on the Board of Directors:

              Todd L. Vanden Hoek, MD, FACEP         Hampton

              Frank Brian Clare, Jr, MD                         Williamsburg

              Neil Grahame Brown, MD                         Virginia Beach

At the VaCEP Board meeting held March 2, Derik K. King, MD, FACEP, Midlothian, was elected to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. Michael Gonzalez from the Board. Dr. King will serve the remaining two years of this term.

The following individuals were elected to serve a two year term representing VaCEP at the Council of the national ACEP organization:

Sabina A. Braithwaite, MD, FACEP

Michael J. Bono, MD, FACEP     (Norfolk)           

Pamela A. Ross, MD, FACEP     (Charlottesville)

Luis F. Eljaiek, Jr, MD, FACEP and Corrine E. Lahti, MD, FACEP (Burke) were elected to serve one-year terms as Alternate Councillors. Members currently serving a two-year term as Councillor, expiring in 2007, are James R. Dudley, MD, MBA; Timothy C. Evans, MD, FACEP    (Richmond) and Kelly Anne Foley, MD, FACEP (Virginia Beach).

Election of officers to serve one-year terms was held at the first meeting of the Board of Directors on March 2nd. The positions of Treasurer and Secretary went to Michael W. Potter, MD, FACEP and Carl F. Wentzel, III, MD, FACEP respectively. The Board elected Luis F. Eljaiek, Jr, MD, FACEP to the position of President-Elect. Sabina A. Braithwaite, MD, FACEP, assumed the office of President and James R. Dudley, MD, MBA continues on the Board as Immediate Past President.

The Virginia College of Emergency Physicians is the medical specialty society representing over 550 emergency physicians in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
