The VACEP Board of Directors established this hierarchy for legislative priorities to assist with the allocation of resources.

 

 

The following guide explains VACEP position on legislation before the General Assembly, and what action will be taken on identified Bills:

ACTIVE SUPPORT Lobbyist assigned with Passage as a primary objective. VACEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
SUPPORT Lobbyist keeps close tabs/using influence appropriately without diluting ACTIVE issues. VACEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
In Favor Lobbyist promotes passage if asked by legislators; considered beneficial to emergency physicians, practices, and/or patients. Members personal involvement recommended if issue is of particular interest to them.
Monitor

VACEP has not taken an official position.
Not in Favor Lobbyist speaks against passage if asked by legislators; considered not beneficial to emergency physicians, practices, and/or patients. Members personal involvement recommended if issue is of particular interest to them.
OPPOSE Lobbyist keeps close tabs/using influence appropriately without diluting ACTIVE issues. VaCEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
ACTIVE OPPOSE Lobbyist assigned with Defeat as a primary objective. VACEP issues legislative alerts to members on elist to take action when a vote is expected by their legislator.
