This course satisfies the EMS Medical Director Educational Requirements as specified in the Virginia OEMS Regulations

Basic EMS Medical Director Training Objectives:

Using an adaptation of the nationally-recognized Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Directors course, physician participants will receive the basic foundation necessary to serve as an EMS Medical Director in Virginia. Course covers an overview of the Virginia EMS system; EMS Medical Director roles and responsibilities: medical oversight; regional EMS council structure and services; EMS personnel and educational requirements; planning and operational protocols; and patient care audit and evaluation procedures. The class satisfies educational requirements specified in the rules and regulations regarding qualifications of physicians serving as EMS Medical Directors.

Current Trends for EMS Medical Directors Objectives:

In this session, physicians can meet and share information with physicians who are seasoned EMS Medical Directors. Current issues related to liability, public health issues, disaster management, EMD, AED, etc. will be discussed.

Target Audience:

This program is open to current Virginia EMS Medical Directors and those interested in becoming an EMS Medical Director.  EMS Administrators are invited as well, to foster communication between physicians and the agencies they serve.

$ FREE: Current Virginia EMS Medical Directors, or VA licensed physicians interested in becoming an EMS Medical Director, any Virginia licensed EMS agency administrators and other non-physician leadership.
